NO DOPING

ATLETICAGENEVE was created in 1987 as a separate meeting in the sense that the first intention of the steering committee was to allow local athletes to meet other foreign athletes who, like them, pledged on their honor not to be doped.
This our initiative was not well understood at the time. We were told in a fatalistic tone "yes that's good, well done, but anyway...".
We continued in our approach, first by setting up standard participation contracts which, with the arrival of the fax, allowed us to obtain the date and signature of the athletes or their agents.

It remained an “intention” on our part and we will never know who cheated behind these signatures.
With our conviction and self-sacrifice we were a bit like Don Quixote against the windmills. Suffice it to say that our originality quickly garnered only the sympathy of the community but created a real movement of identity among these athletes who wanted to be judged on the value of their performance against athletes who also respected these same values.
And other athletes, both successful and doubtful, refrained from wanting to participate.
The media, it must be said, did not really understand our orientation, considered as "original" because we did not give them the names of the "usual" stars that they could have put forward.

CODE OF CONDUCT

At that period  the EAP (Europe Athletics Promotion) circuit was born in 1990, which we co-founded, and the rapid arrival a few years later of the internet, made it possible to generalize these procedures within all member meetings. of this circuit.

Since the beginning of the 2000s, ATLETICAGENEVE has adhered to the Code of Conduct which not only takes up our position regarding doping, but integrates all other notions of cheating in the broad sense.

TRUEATHLETICS

Quite naturally, and with the EAP circuit, we started using the term "#trueathletics", which sums up our entire approach.

I RUN CLEAN®

We also immediately adopted the "I Run Clean®" certification, on the one hand by requiring it from all athletes but by making it obligatory for all members of the EAP circuit, both among the delegations of athletes and coaches/accompanying people as well as among members of organizing committees.

QUALITY MEETING PROGRAM (QMP)

During this same period, that is to say since 2018-19, we have implemented a series of qualitative requirements as part of the process of organizing a meeting. The EAP's "QMP" (Quality meeting program) defines our own standards in terms of logistics, communication, organisation and also the evaluation of each of these points over the 12-month arc, for each meeting.

SAFEGUARDING

More recently, and sensitive to the problem of mobbing, sexual harassment and abuse, we have incorporated the notion of "safeguarding" into the EAP. The idea is to raise awareness among all participants (the youngest obviously, but also to warn potential predators) by giving them useful information in the event of a risky situation. At our initiative, this point is now also part of the registration procedure for each athlete.

PROMOTION OF YOUNG ATHLETES

Always faithful to the promotion of young people, despite the gradual evolution towards the highest level (the meeting has become essential for the best Swiss, European and world athletes), we have always maintained competitions for cadets (which we call today U18).
We have therefore ensured that all meetings on the EAP circuit must also offer at least two disciplines intended for U18s. A specific U18 permanent commission has been created within the EAP governance. This is our future and we must give them dreams and opportunities.
ATLETICAGENEVE offers them a prominent place by inserting the U18 race for the best Geneva athletes and EAP members just before the grand final of the 100m, respectively the elite races of the 800m.
We have created real enthusiasm around these promotional races and are proud to contribute to the future careers of these young talents

DISABILITIES

Despite our very dense program which allows 500 athletes from more than 80 countries to participate in one of the approximately 26 disciplines we offer, we grant some opportunities to para-athletes. These people, whether for example blind, amputee, deaf or suffering from another type of disability, are included in the competitions, without distinction. This is part of the “EAP Together” circuit.
However, for scheduling reasons, we can no longer offer wheelchair or fully dedicated competitions.

SUSTAINABILITY & ENVIRONMENT

Finally, our humanist sensitivity is also interested in the environmental aspects on which we are working.
It is therefore very soon that we will also be able to present our commitment to nature. This will not come down to the simple “recycling” of waste, but to an upstream approach to avoid bad practices and uses.
Our partners will also be chosen based on their own adherence and commitment to these ethical and sustainable values.

This is our approach and commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
